Being overweight or obese places you at increased risk of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. According to a recent study, 10% weight gain gives an approximate 32% increase in the severity level of your sleep apnoea.

A 10% loss of weight gives an estimated 26% reduction in the severity level.

These figures suggest that it is best to avoid gaining weight. If you are overweight with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, losing weight will help reduce your severity rating.
