I snore every night and my neighbour said she can hear it! I was wondering whether it’s a problem to my health.

The term ‘snoring’ is used to describe the sound made by air vibrating through your airways during sleep. Snoring can cause you to wake up more than usual, resulting in daytime drowsiness and irritability. It can disrupt your sleep in a similar way to sleep apnoea. If your snoring is becoming a problem it is important to seek treatment.

Over time, snoring can cause your airways to become inflamed and narrow. This can eventually lead to Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, where your airways repeatedly collapse in on themselves during sleep. If you are a snorer with daytime sleepiness it is worth having an overnight sleep study to make sure your snoring has not progressed to Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.
