I’m excited – really, really excited. Having spent every weekend for the last three years researching, scheming and frantically scribbling, I’m finally able to announce the launch of my new eBook: Sleep apnoea and CPAP – From diagnosis to treatment.

Now before I get into the nitty gritty on what you’ll find inside my personal ode to sleep apnoea – a little background on why I decided to write it in the first place.

I’m a Sleep Physiologist by trade. This means a large part of my time is spent trying to convince people that strapping a scary looking mask to their face and pumping air into their lungs is good for them. ‘You’ll sleep like a baby’ I reassure them, and ‘you’ll wake up feeling rejuvenated and full of energy and smiles’. They don’t believe me. And within a few weeks of reluctant CPAP use many just give up.

It’s frustrating knowing that half of my patients will abandon the one treatment that will give them back their quality of life, just because they encounter one or two teething issues. And despite explaining how to solve these minor problems I know by looking at their shocked, glazed eyes they aren’t retaining a word I’m saying. I also realise I cannot be there for them 24/7 when it inevitably goes wrong.

I came to realise that if I could send everyone away with a complete CPAP manual they might have more success with their CPAP machine. Something they could read at home without being flustered by some horrible women waving a mask at them and talking gobbledygook.

So I set about buying every CPAP related book on Amazon with the hope of finding something I could heartily recommend to my patients that would help ease their transition into CPAP use. And while some of them were kind of ok, I suspected I could do better. So three years ago I set to work on a mission to write the most complete and easy to understand CPAP guide for new users.

And that’s why I wrote Sleep apnoea and CPAP – From diagnosis to treatment. It’s packed full of simple explanations and clear photographs, guiding new patients through the often scary process of getting tested and treated for sleep apnoea.

With three whole chapters dedicated to solving problems with your CPAP equipment, it’s the ultimate guide for new CPAP users. I’m sure even veteran CPAP users will learn a trick or two! Inside I’ve covered:

  • Travelling with CPAP
  • Buying accessories
  • Monitoring your own treatment.
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Solving everyday problems with the mask and air pump
